Phil Jones: 'Manchester United still in title race'

Manchester United centre-back Phil Jones says that his team can still win the Premier League this season, despite their struggles throughout the month of December.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has insisted that his team can still win the Premier League title this season.

The Red Devils sat atop the table towards the end of November, but they are currently on a six-game winless run in the league.

That poor form has left Louis van Gaal's side in sixth position – nine points off the league leaders Arsenal – but Jones has claimed that the unpredictability of the season means that his side are still in the race.

"It is strange but the table shows that literally anyone can win the league this season. Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester, [Manchester] City, ourselves, Tottenham, Stoke, Watford - nobody seems to want to win it," Jones told MUTV.

"It only takes a good run of five, six, seven games and getting a few wins and it soon turns around.

"We are disappointed with the way we have played over the past few games, although we did well against Chelsea, but by no means are we out of [the title race]. If we can put a few wins together we will be right back up there."

Man United will look to end their eight-game winless run in all competitions when they host struggling Swansea City in the Premier League on Saturday.
