Manchester United remove a giant mural of Cristiano Ronaldo outside Old Trafford, days after details of his explosive interview with Piers Morgan emerged.

Manchester United have removed a giant mural of Cristiano Ronaldo outside Old Trafford.

The 37-year-old said in a recent interview with Piers Morgan that he feels "betrayed" by the Red Devils, while he also criticised the club's manager Erik ten Hag and owners the Glazers.

The full 90-minute interview will be aired on Wednesday and Thursday evening, with the full details of the discussion on TalkTV set to be made public.

Ronaldo has a contract with the 20-time English champions until next June, but he is unlikely to play for the club again due to his recent comments, which caused shockwaves around the world of football.

Sporting Lisbon and Chelsea are among the clubs being linked with the forward, who is currently with the Portugal squad preparing for the start of the 2022 World Cup.

Man United have now dropped a huge hint that they are preparing to move on from Ronaldo by removing a giant poster of the Portuguese from outside of Old Trafford.

The former Sporting youngster features on the poster alongside some of the club's iconic former number sevens as part of a 'more than a shirt' campaign.

However, the mural has now been removed by the 20-time English champions, hours before the first section of the interview with Morgan is aired.

Ronaldo has found it difficult to make his mark for the Red Devils this season, only scoring three times in 16 appearances in all competitions, in addition to registering two assists.

The Portuguese has only netted once in 10 Premier League appearances this term, although the strike against Everton proved to be his 700th in club football.

Ronaldo missed Man United's two games against Aston Villa and Fulham ahead of the break for the World Cup due to illness.

The majority of the forward's Red Devils teammates allegedly believe that the number seven should not represent the club again following his deep criticism of the 20-time English champions.
