Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero calls on fans to "hold on a little" as speculation surrounding a possible move to Barcelona gathers pace.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has played down rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona this summer.

The former Atletico Madrid man is set to become a free agent when his Etihad contract expires in June, and the 2020-21 campaign is looking likely to be his last in sky blue.

Aguero has been tipped to head back to his boyhood Argentinian club Independiente del Valle, but a switch to Catalonia has also been mooted, although the 32-year-old has insisted that he remains a Man City player at this moment in time.

Responding to comments on Twitch, Aguero said: "They are all writing Barca, Barca, Barca. Let's hold on a little, have a look. Stop. We are still with City."

Aguero has endured a torrid campaign with injury and coronavirus-related absences, but the South American finally got off the mark for the Premier League season in Saturday's 3-0 triumph at Fulham.

Pep Guardiola's side have been linked with moves for current Atletico forward Joao Felix and Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland as they prepare for Aguero's likely departure.
