Yaya Toure: 'I've always been there for Manchester City'

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure hits back at critics following his brace in the Citizens' 3-0 win at West Bromwich Albion, claiming that he's 'always been there'.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has hit back at critics questioning his commitment to the club following his brace in the Citizens' 3-0 win at West Bromwich Albion.

The Ivory Coast international has been a key figure at the Etihad Stadium since his arrival from Barcelona in 2010.

However, it appeared that Toure's stay in the Premier League was coming to an end when his agent hinted earlier this year that he was set to leave the club - a claim that the player himself rebuked.

Speaking to reporters after Monday's game at the Hawthorns, Toure said: "I know what I have to do and I don't care what people say about me. I'm not back - I'm always there.

"It's about the team. We did a massive job today. West Brom have a good manager and players. Full credit to all our team. We made it easy because we played our own football, we played with belief and intensity."

Toure's Man City contract runs until 2017.
