Report: Manuel Pellegrini to be given full backing by Manchester City chiefs

Manuel Pellegrini will be given the funds to sign Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne in an attempt to improve on this year's trophiless campaign, according to a report.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly been given a double boost, having been told that he will keep his job this summer and also receive large backing in the transfer window.

The Chilean was rumoured to be on the brink of exit following a trophiless campaign at City, with Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola tipped to take over.

However, the Manchester Evening News claims that the 61-year-old will be given at least another season to build on last year's Premier League title success, and he will be handed large funds to land the likes of Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne.

Pellegrini, who joined the Etihad club in 2013, is due to meet with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak later this month to review the Citizens' season.
