Pep Guardiola: 'Fear of failure makes me hungry for success'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits that a fear of failure makes him "hungry" and "starving" for more success.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that a fear of failure makes him "starving" for more success.

The Spaniard led the Citizens to the Premier League title last term with an unprecedented 100-point haul and a number of other records also broken.

However, the Champions League continues to elude Man City, with Liverpool emerging triumphant in their semi-final last season.

Speaking ahead of the club's Community Shield meeting with Chelsea on Sunday, Guardiola told BBC Sport: "I don't like the feeling of losing games. That simple fear to lose a game makes you starving and hungry again.

"The players don't have to be worried - I am ready to try it again. All the managers try to avoid that feeling where you lose a game. You feel guilty, you feel bad, your private life is not good and your relationship with the players is not good."

Man City's only European title in their history remains the 1969-70 European Cup Winners' Cup.
