Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde coy over Philippe Coutinho speculation

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde says that "we will see" when quizzed over whether Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho will make a January move to Camp Nou.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has suggested that there remains a possibility that Philippe Coutinho could move to Camp Nou from Liverpool in January.

The Reds have previously stressed that Coutinho was not for sale, but reports have indicated that a deal could be reached with the Premier League club before the end of the month.

The Brazilian international has also allegedly chosen his shirt number for the Catalan giants but when quizzed on the matter, Valverde refused to give much away.

The 53-year-old told reporters: "We will see if he comes or not. He is a great player.

"We respect Liverpool and we respect the player. We don't know what will happen in the future but I like the players I have now in the squad."

Coutinho has contributed 12 goals and eight assists in 20 appearances for Liverpool this season, and club legend Jamie Carragher says that his former team would be taking "a big risk" should they sell the playmaker before the end of the campaign.
