Brendan Rodgers wants "top-level" striker in summer transfer window

Brendan Rodgers reveals his plan to add a "top-level" striker to his Liverpool ranks in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed his plans to add a "top-level" striker to his ranks this summer.

Daniel Sturridge spent five months out with injury earlier in the season, and the Reds have struggled for goals this term, with Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert all failing to establish themselves as first choice in the England striker's absence.

Sturridge has featured in just 35% of Liverpool's games this term, and Rodgers is keen to boost his firepower in the upcoming transfer window.

The Telegraph quotes the Reds boss as saying: "I am not sure [how many strikers we need] but I need one that is going to be playing at a top level every week.

"It's not something that's easy to find but it can make a huge difference. If you look at teams who are successful they will have that - a consistent striker. What that gives the rest of team is crucial. You saw it here with Luis Suarez, the impact that kind of striker can have.

"It's our job to find a way to attract them here. However long I am here or not, Liverpool is a huge attraction for any player so that's something we will fight hard to do in the summer."
