A report in the Daily Star claims that Napoli are prepared to offer the Reds defender an extra £180,000 in wages each year if the club were to have a bid accepted for the player.
Benitez has long been a fan of the Danish defender, with the two working together during the Spaniard's tenure at Liverpool.
Napoli are currently third in Serie A on 28 points.
