Liverpool striker Luis Suarez admits that Liverpool's lack of Champions League football "disturbs" him and hints at a transfer to Real Madrid.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted that the club's absence from the Champions League "disturbs" him and once again hinted a transfer to Real Madrid.

The Reds finished seventh in the Premier League last season and will be absent from European competitions in 2013-14.

The club have not played in the Champions League since 2010 and Suarez reveals that their lack of participation in Europe's premier club competition adversely affects him.

"It disturbs me that Liverpool are not in the Champions League every season," Suarez told El Pais.

"I've suffered at Liverpool, but when I think of what it represents to play for this club, and the love my daughter has - she sings the hymn [You'll Never Walk Alone] - the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I play at Anfield."

The Uruguayan has been linked with a summer switch to Madrid after claiming that he feels victimised by the British media, and the striker has said that playing for Los Blancos would be the pinnacle of his career.

"A player always aspires to be at the top of their profession and Madrid is at the top for any football player," he said.

Suarez scored 30 goals for Liverpool last season.
