Liverpool are understood to have lowered the asking price for striker Daniel Sturridge in order to secure the forward a move away from Anfield.

Liverpool are understood to have lowered the asking price for striker Daniel Sturridge in order to secure the forward a move away from Anfield.

The Reds had initially offered interested clubs an initial loan fee of £5m, as well as his £150,000-per-week wage, but according to The Mirror, the Merseyside club have not had any bids come in for the England international.

The newspaper says that Liverpool have now reduced the loan fee for Sturridge to £1.5m in an effort to attract more interest in the 28-year-old.

Sturridge, who has been pushed out of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp's plans this season, has previously been courted by Inter Milan, who allegedly remain interested.

The striker is seeking a move away from Merseyside in a bid to boost his chances of making Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate's final 23-man squad for the World Cup finals this summer.
