Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hints that Liverpool could strengthen their squad in the January transfer window, with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota currently sidelined.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that the club could delve into the transfer market in January.

With Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota sidelined due to knee and calf problems respectively, Liverpool are currently thin on attacking options.

Diaz is expected to be out until March after he suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury during Liverpool's warm-weather training camp in Dubai, while Jota is ruled out until February.

Ahead of Liverpool's away game against Aston Villa on Boxing Day, Klopp has indicated that the club could try to strengthen their squad in January.

Klopp told reporters: "All the signs I got in the Dubai training camp were super positive. I trust in our process and the things we do. It was completely different to pre-season. Completely different.

"In all the games I saw we were going in the right direction. I am positive we can pick up where we left off rather than go back to the start of the season.

"I don't want to start talking about it now but we have two long-term injuries up front which is not helpful. Never was, never will be.

"Last season we had Luis Diaz come in (January) which was very helpful for that part of the season, everybody would see that the same way. But doing something again that is very positive - why not?"

Liverpool are currently sat in sixth place in the Premier League, with seven points separating them from the top four.
