Owen Hargreaves: Raheem Sterling 'should reject Bayern Munich move'

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling should reject the chance to join Bayern Munich, according to Owen Hargreaves.

Raheem Sterling has been urged to reject the opportunity to join Bayern Munich by the German club's former midfielder Owen Hargreaves.

The 20-year-old Liverpool winger has been at the centre of intense speculation regarding his future, with Bayern, Real Madrid and, most recently, Manchester City linked with a possible transfer for the England star.

However, Hargreaves believes that Sterling may benefit from staying at Anfield, rather than seeking a move away.

He told The Mirror: "I think he should stay at Liverpool for another four years. It will be good for his development. He is far too young mentally to make that move.

Bayern are one of the best clubs in the world. Pep [Guardiola] is a great manager. There is no better place in the world for a player like Sterling to be. He would fit in as good players always do.

"It would benefit him to play in such a team, but he should stay at Anfield a bit longer. Brendan Rodgers is also a great manager and will really develop him as a player."

Sterling scored twice in Liverpool's League Cup quarter-final victory against Bournemouth in midweek.
