Philippe Coutinho agent rules out Barcelona exit

Barcelona "have no intention of selling" Philippe Coutinho this summer, according to the Brazilian playmaker's agent Kia Joorabchian.

Philippe Coutinho's agent has insisted that the playmaker is staying put at Barcelona as the Spanish champions "have no intention of selling him".

The 27-year-old's future has been a hot topic of discussion in recent months after he admitted his first full campaign at Camp Nou did not go to plan.

After failing to hold down a regular place in his preferred position, Coutinho has been tipped to find a new club before the new season.

Paris Saint-Germain were considered the rumoured frontrunners to sign the Brazil international, while former club Liverpool have recently emerged as a possible option.

However, Barca officials held talks with agent Kia Joorabchian on Wednesday and made it clear that Coutinho is not for sale.

"I was told they have no intention of selling him, that Barcelona have not spoken to anyone and that stories to the contrary are simply not true," Joorabchian is quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

"I will not let people talk about Philippe and put him down because for one-and-a-half years we have said nothing. I won't let them do that and all of us in Philippe's camp will not let that happen because Barcelona have told us he is staying."

Barcelona are expected to sell a big-name player this summer after spending more than £100m to sign Antoine Griezmann from rivals Atletico Madrid.
