Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas: 'Real Madrid interested in Nabil Fekir'

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas admits that France international and Liverpool target Nabil Fekir is also on the radar of Real Madrid.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that Liverpool target Nabil Fekir is also on the radar of Real Madrid.

The France attacker, who is currently away on World Cup duty with his national side, was poised to join the Reds in a big-money move earlier this month.

Reports suggested that Lyon pulled the plug on the move after Liverpool attempted to renegotiate a fee due to a knee issue flagged up during Fekir's medical.

However, Aulas suggested that he called off the transfer himself because it had simply dragged on too long, and added that the Champions League holders are now interested in the 24-year-old.

"Listen, at that stage it was foreseen he would go to Liverpool, I had given it the green light to go ahead. but it just took too long, things were just too drawn out," Aulas told RT.

"He is an exceptional player, he keeps the ball in little space and has an incredible talent.

"The fact that things didn't conclude with Liverpool and it didn't happen in that timeframe has peaked the interest of a lot of other clubs - Real Madrid, but not just Real Madrid and their new trainer.

"There is a lot of interest from other camps, so everything is possible."

Fekir made 40 appearances for Lyon last season, scoring 23 goals and registering eight assists.
