Liverpool's Adam Lallana: 'We have to use win as platform'

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana tells his teammates that they have to use their dominating 4-1 win over Manchester City as impetus to move up the Premier League.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has called on his side to use their commanding 4-1 win over Manchester City as a platform to rise up the Premier League table.

Eliaquim Mangala put the ball into his own net to put the Reds ahead, while Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino added further strikes to hand Jurgen Klopp's men control of the match.

The Citizens were handed a lifeline when Sergio Aguero netted before half time, but Liverpool secured a dominating win as Martin Skrtel fired a volley into the top corner in the 81st minute.

Lallana told BBC Sport: "We didn't give them a second on the ball. Going forward we looked very dangerous, it was great fun. We need to stop slipping up at home.

"These big wins go unnoticed if you lose at home. But today is a great platform and hopefully we can kick on."

Liverpool moved up to ninth in the Premier League as a result of their win.
