Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson tips the "brilliant" Mohamed Salah to continue his hot goalscoring streak ahead of a crucial few weeks for the Reds.

Jordan Henderson has urged the "brilliant" Mohamed Salah to continue his hot goalscoring streak ahead of a crucial period for Liverpool.

The Egypt international scored a brace in Saturday's 3-0 win over Southampton and now has 14 goals in 18 matches in all competitions.

With Champions League qualification up for grabs in Sevilla on Tuesday night and a busy December ahead, Henderson is eager for Salah to keep firing on all cylinders.

"I just want him to keep going. He hasn't taken his foot off the gas. He's working hard in training and in the games. It's not just his scoring - it's his work rate," the Liverpool captain told the club's website.

"He has been brilliant for all the season so far. He has to keep it going for us like all the players but it is a good start coming back after the international break.

"It is important for us over this busy period, it's important to keep players fresh and raring to go - even those who are not starting. The big games keep coming but that is what we have to prepare for. We knew the next couple of months would be big for us."

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the Premier League table on 22 points and top Champions League Group E with eight points from four games.
