Liverpool teenager Kaide Gordon, who made his first team debut in the EFL Cup last month, has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Teenager Kaide Gordon has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool.

The winger turned 17 years old on Tuesday, the age at which clubs are allowed to offer such deals to academy prospects.

Gordon made his first-team debut for Liverpool when he started against Norwich City in the EFL Cup last month and completed the 90 minutes.

The Reds' statement said that the teenager is "a talented wide player with pace and skill, he often starts wide on the right, where he can cut in on his left foot".

Gordon joined Derby County at the age of eight and spent eight years at his hometown club, making one Championship appearance last season.

Liverpool snapped him up in February for a reported fee of £1m and he scored six goals in eight appearances for the Under-18 side in the second half of last season.

Gordon would spend pre-season with Jurgen Klopp's first team, before linking up with the Under-23 squad at the start of the campaign.
