Steven Gerrard turns attention back to Liverpool

Steven Gerrard insists that he is focused solely on Liverpool following England's successful World Cup qualification campaign.

Steven Gerrard has claimed that he is now focused solely on Liverpool following England's successful World Cup qualification campaign.

The midfielder scored the Three Lions' second goal on Tuesday night as a 2-0 win over Poland saw them book their place at next year's tournament in Brazil.

However, Gerrard insists that he has already put that behind him ahead of Liverpool's trip to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.

"As a footballer there is never much time to enjoy big wins as there is always another big game around the corner," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"Now I switch my focus to Newcastle. I'll park England and get my recovery done. I want three points against Newcastle now."

Liverpool are currently in second place in the Premier League table after seven matches.
