Kenny Dalglish is unsure whether Steven Gerrard will face Brighton in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

Kenny Dalglish has yet to decide whether to play Steven Gerrard in Liverpool's Carling Cup third round tie against Brighton on Wednesday.

The midfielder has not featured this season after recovering from a groin injury.

"He's fine, we'll try to get over this before we start worrying about something else," said the Scot after his side's 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

"I've said all along, he's done fantastically well to get where he is. We'll just monitor him and pick the right moment for him and us before we get him back.

"It's natural everyone wants to chase for Stevie, especially after you have lost 4-0. But we'll monitor it, take it how it goes and when both parties agree he'll play."

The Reds' loss at White Hart Lane has left them eighth in the Premier League table.
