Leicester City manager Claude Puel admits that Mohamed Salah was the difference between the two sides during their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Leicester City manager Claude Puel has admitted that Mohamed Salah was the difference during his side's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool this afternoon.

The Foxes took a third-minute lead at Anfield courtesy of Jamie Vardy's early strike, but a second-half brace from the in-form Salah turned the game around as Liverpool picked up all three points.

Puel acknowledged that Liverpool have the players capable of making the difference in such games, but believes that his side deserved something from the contest.

"Of course it is a big disappointment at the end because we were leading for a long time. In the first half we defended well with quality and perhaps we needed to keep the ball a little more but we created some problems for them and it was a fantastic start," he told reporters.

"The player who made the difference this afternoon was Salah. The second goal was not a chance - he created it himself with his quality. We played [against] a good team with fantastic players who make the difference.

"I think we deserved something because of our togetherness and I am frustrated for my squad. Now it is important to look forward and recover for the next game on Monday [at home to Huddersfield]."

The defeat means that Leicester have now picked up only one point from the last 12 on offer, having won four in a row prior to that.
