Jamie Carragher: 'Mohamed Salah signing of season'

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says that Reds winger Mohamed Salah was the Premier League's signing of the season.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that Reds winger Mohamed Salah was the Premier League's signing of the season.

Jurgen Klopp's side face West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday with Salah expected to line up for Liverpool in the capital.

The Egyptian, who was a club-record signing, has netted 10 goals this season, including the breakthrough goal in Liverpool's midweek win over Maribor.

"Of all the transfers last summer, none has had more impact than Liverpool's Mohamed Salah," Carragher wrote in his column in The Telegraph.

"Salah scored his 10th of the current campaign in midweek. When I saw Salah score his first for the club at Watford on the opening day, I felt this was a player who would score 15 this season. I underestimated. He is on course to get 25.

"Paying over £35m seemed risky, but as was the case with [Sadio] Mane, Salah already looks to be worth more than he cost."

The 25-year-old has also shone on the international stage this term, scoring the penalty that qualified his side for the World Cup next summer.
