Jamie Carragher impressed with Jurgen Klopp's first Liverpool match

Jamie Carragher admits that he was impressed by Liverpool's pressing approach used in their goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur in Jurgen Klopp's first match.

Jamie Carragher has revealed that he was impressed by Liverpool's first outing under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds played out a goalless draw in their clash with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane as they were forced into action without strikers Daniel Sturridge, Christian Benteke and Danny Ings.

Carragher has admitted that he was pleased with the attitude and physical approach of his former team under the German.

He told Sky Sports News: "I liked what I saw. Very rarely do you see a manager stamp his authority on a team from day one, but that's what he did.

"Over the week since he's had the job, we've been reading about what he is like as a manager - pressing, how much distance they are going to cover.

"As soon as they lose the ball you can see they will keep pressing until they win it back. They're organised and you can see that has been worked on in the first two or three days in training."

Liverpool are next in action against Rubin Kazan in the Europa League on Thursday.
