Ian Ayre: 'Liverpool will attract quality players'

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre believes that the club will attract world-class names to Anfield after their performances in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre is confident that the club can attract star players to Anfield after moving to the brink of winning the Premier League title.

The Merseyside outfit will win their first league trophy since 1990 if they can secure maximum points from their final three fixtures, and with their performances also ensuring Champions League football for the next campaign, Ayre believes that manager Brendan Rodgers will enjoy an easier summer in the transfer market.

Ayre is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "There is no question that we always expected that the squad we need for next season will be very different to the squad that we have needed for this year when we were not playing in Europe.

"It has always been tougher in the transfer market when you are not competing at the highest level. We had the issue with Luis Suarez last summer because he wanted to play in the best games against the best players. That is always a factor.

"We have always been fortunate to be able to bring great players here despite that but there is no question that it opens up a few doors for us and makes it a little bit easier."

Liverpool will attempt to edge closer to the Premier League crown when they host rivals Chelsea on Sunday.
