Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Rui Patricio suffers a worrying head injury during the latter stages of his side's Premier League defeat to Liverpool.

Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Rui Patricio suffered a serious-looking head injury in the latter stages of this evening's 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Molineux.

The shot-stopper was involved in an accidental collision with teammate Conor Coady towards the end of the 90 minutes, with Coady's knee connecting with Patricio's head as both players attempted to stop a Mohamed Salah chance.

Patricio was left prone on the floor as he received lengthy treatment, being given oxygen and being placed in a neck brace as the game was stopped for around 13 minutes.

The Portugal international was eventually stretchered off to be replaced by John Ruddy, who came on as a concussion substitute after manager Nuno Espirito Santo had already used his three regular changes.

The incident was watched by Raul Jimenez, who was in stands having himself suffered a fractured skull earlier in the season.

Patricio has started 103 of Wolves' last 104 Premier League games, but could now be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Liverpool held on through the extended injury time to record a 1-0 win courtesy of Diogo Jota's goal against his former club at the end of the first half.
