Leicester City striker Steve Howard reveals that his teammates were shocked and surprised by the sacking of Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Striker Steven Howard has confessed that his Leicester City teammates were surprised by the sacking of Sven-Goran Eriksson last night.

Howard also revealed that the Swede wished his former squad all the best for the season ahead during a meeting earlier today.

"It was a bit of a shock," Howard told Sky Sports News. "But these things happen in football. You've just got to move on.

"[Eriksson] just wished us all the best and said he hopes that we continue to play the football we can and climb the league.

"[The sacking] was quite a surprise but you've just got to take it on the chin."

Earlier today Eriksson expressed his disappointment at being relieved of his duties at the King Power Stadium.
