Leeds United offer Neil Redfearn academy job back

Leeds United offer outgoing head coach Neil Redfearn the chance to return to his old role of academy manager.

Championship side Leeds United have offered Neil Redfearn the chance to resume his role as manager of the club's academy after it was announced today that Uwe Rosler was to succeed him as first-team boss.

Leeds decided not to exercise an option to extend Redfearn's contract, which ends next month, instead employing former Wigan Athletic boss Rosler as head coach on a two-year deal.

Reports in Yorkshire claim that Redfearn had been left in the dark over his future by Leeds owner Massimo Cellino until the very last minute and is unlikely to remain at the club because of the way he has been treated.

New Leeds executive director Adam Pearson believes that the offer made to Redfearn is "credible", but also feels that other clubs will be keen on giving him a top job.

"The clause hasn't been exercised on Neil's contract and he has been offered his old role in charge of the academy," confirmed Pearson.

"It's been offered to him and I'm sure Neil will get back to me as soon as he's had time to consider it.

"It's a realistic and credible offer, but Neil's track record over the last year I imagine would mean he would have other offers to consider."

Redfearn was Leeds's third head coach of the season and guided the Whites to 15th in the table.
