Kidderminster Harriers held by Nuneaton Town

Kidderminster Harriers are held to a 0-0 draw by Nuneaton Town in the Conference Premier.

Nuneaton Town and Kidderminster Harriers have played out a goalless draw in the Conference Premier, with the result failing to benefit either club in the league table.

The home side require points to avoid relegation while Harriers need victories to try to hunt down a top-five spot, but both sides missed out in a competitive match on Saturday afternoon.

After a slow start at the James Parnell Stadium, the visitors registered the first shot on target through Lee Hughes, but his effort was straight at debutant Max Crocombe.

Moments later, the veteran forward saw a half-volley also kept out by the goalkeeper, before Andy Brown fired over the home side.

As the clock ticked past the half-hour mark, Nuneaton's James Armson forced a decent stop out of Danny Lewis, before the Harriers stopper had to react well to prevent Adam Walker's close-range effort finding the back of the net.

Soon after the restart, Hughes almost gave Kidderminster the perfect start to the second half but after cutting inside onto his right foot, he couldn't find the bottom corner with his shot.

Opportunities were being created at either end, but it was Lewis who was the more active of the two goalkeepers and he had to stop Walker from opening the scoring with a low strike from 12 yards out.

Kidderminster responded with a stunning effort from Jack Bryne that just curled wide of the upright, before Lewis was back in the thick of the action to keep out Elliott Woodhouse.

That proved to be the final clear chance to leave both teams having to settle for a point which leaves them five points adrift of safety and the relegation zone respectively.
