Four Germans named on Golden Ball shortlist

FIFA includes four German players in the shortlist for the World Cup's Golden Ball award.

Four members of Germany's World Cup squad have been included on the shortlist for the Golden Ball award.

The award will be handed to the player judged to have performed best throughout the tournament, and the recipient will be confirmed on Sunday.

Mats Hummels, Philipp Lahm, Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos have all been included following their impressive performances in helping Germany reach Sunday's final against Argentina at the Maracana.

Argentine trio Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano and Angel di Maria are all recognised, while there are also places for James Rodriguez, Neymar and Netherlands winger Arjen Robben.

FIFA has also revealed the three players in contention for the Best Young Player award, with French duo Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba battling it out with Dutch attacking midfielder Memphis Depay.

The Golden Glove award, handed to the tournament's best goalkeeper, will either be given to Germany's Manuel Neuer, Argentina's Sergio Romero, or Costa Rica shot-stopper Keylor Navas.
