Fulham vice-chairman and director of football operations Tony Khan is hopeful that Marco Silva will stay at the West London club.

Fulham vice-chairman and director of football operations Tony Khan is hopeful that Marco Silva will stay at the club "for a very long time" despite being linked with a move away.

After being appointed Fulham boss in the summer of 2021, Silva guided the club to promotion in his first season in charge.

The Cottagers have been relegated from the Premier League in their previous two seasons in the top flight, but they have had no such problems this time around.

Having picked up 52 points from 37 games, Fulham are guaranteed to finish the 2022-23 season in the comfort of 10th position.

Following a successful campaign, there has been speculation that interested clubs could attempt to prise Silva away from Craven Cottage.

Silva has a contract until the end of next season, but his current deal reportedly contains a £6m release clause.

With Silva set to enter the final 12 months of his contract, the Evening Standard are reporting that Fulham have held talks with the 45-year-old over a new deal.

Despite the rumours surrounding Silva's future, Khan is hopeful that his manager will remain with the club for the foreseeable future.

"I have so much praise for Marco," Khan told The Athletic. "So much great stuff has happened since he came here. We have a coach who likes being at Fulham.

"The players like the coach, the coach likes the players. And for me personally, it has been the most fun I have had.

"It has all come together for a really special moment and I am very positive about Marco (staying). He is very happy at Fulham, and all of us are very happy with him. We want that to continue, hopefully for a very long time."

Silva's efforts this season have been recognised with a nomination for the Premier League Manager of the Season Award.

The Fulham boss will be hoping to end the campaign with a positive result when his side face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
