Report: Everton join Virgil van Dijk race

A report claims that Everton boss Ronald Koeman wants to bring Southampton's Virgil van Dijk to Goodison Park.

Everton have reportedly joined the race for Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

The Netherlands international joined Saints in a £13m deal from Celtic in the summer of 2015 and has since developed into one of the Premier League's most consistent centre-backs.

Liverpool and Manchester United have both been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old, who is believed to be valued in the region of £40m by the board at Southampton.

According to The Mirror, that price has not put off Everton, and Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is eyeing a reunion with the defender that he brought to English football.

Van Dijk only signed a new six-year contract with Southampton earlier this year.
