Jack Rodwell says that he aims to make England's squad for World Cup 2014.

Jack Rodwell has said that he is hoping to put his injury problems behind him and make England's World Cup squad in 2014.

The 21-year-old suffered with injuries throughout last season, restricting his game time and chances of making Euro 2012.

The midfielder has been touted as a key part of the next generation to come through for the national side, and is predicted by many to be in the starting XI at the 2014 tournament in Brazil. The youngster has admitted that he is desperate to fulfil his international ambitions, along with the rest of England's next generation.

"The World Cup is every player's dream," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"That's what my next goal is, to keep working hard and trying to get in the England squad.

"There's the likes of Jack Wilshere, Jordan Henderson, myself and others, that can play regularly,

"You look at Manchester United who had Danny Welbeck competing in the Euros, and Phil Jones was there too. There's a good spine of players. I'm sure in the next few years that these players will grow and mature."

Rodwell has two caps for England since making his debut in 2011.
