Roy Hodgson pleased with Jack Wilshere return

England manager Roy Hodgson is happy at having Jack Wilshere available for selection once again.

England manager Roy Hodgson has expressed his delight at having midfielder Jack Wilshere back available for selection.

Wilshere has suffered a torrid time with injuries over the past few seasons, only starting one match for his country since 2011.

However, the 21-year-old is now fully fit and Hodgson is hopeful that he can become an important player for the Three Lions as they look to qualify for the 2014 World Cup.

"Jack has looked good [in training] and he has been playing on quite a regular basis for a period of time now. He has been back in full training and playing a regular part in Arsenal's pre-season. We are delighted to have him back, but he is another player we want to protect a little bit," said Hodgson.

"I am really pleased he is back with us because he is a precocious talent. His game against Brazil, where he got the man of the match award, still lives long in the memory. He was fantastic throughout and I am rather hoping we will get some use from him in qualifying.

"Up to now he has only played the Brazil match and half a match against Sweden in my time as national team manager."

Wilshere is expected to play some part in England's friendly against Scotland on Wednesday.
