Roy Hodgson "disappointed" by Jack Wilshere injury news

England boss Roy Hodgson says that he is disappointed in the wake of the news that Jack Wilshere will miss six weeks of football following a hairline fracture.

England boss Roy Hodgson has said that he is disappointed in the wake of the news that Jack Wilshere will miss six weeks of football following a hairline fracture.

The Arsenal midfielder was taken off after the hour mark while on international duty, having overcome a strong challenge from defender Daniel Agger earlier in the game.

However, his club have revealed today that the World Cup hopeful will now be out of action for a lengthy period because of a fracture to his foot.

"It's always sad when you have a player come from his club, you use him in international duty and then he gets a injury," Hodgson said after hearing the news, according to talkSPORT.

"It's very sad. I'm disappointed, for Jack in particular and I'm disappointed for Arsenal.

"Unfortunately these things happen in a game of football. It was an honest challenge but he took a nasty kick and I can only hope he recovers as quickly as possible."

England get their World Cup campaign underway against Italy in Brazil this June.
