Roy Hodgson to meet England players on Thursday

England manager Roy Hodgson will host a meeting of around 40 players at the FA's training HQ on Thursday evening.

England manager Roy Hodgson has called around 40 players to a meeting at St George's Park this week as he ramps up preparation for this summer's European Championships.

The meeting will take place at the Football Association's training base in Burton on Thursday evening after the players in question have completed regular training with their domestic clubs.

Among the players expected to attend the gathering are injured Arsenal duo Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck as they look to make late bids to feature at the tournament in France, according to Sky Sports News.

"We are expecting about 40 players to be there and they are basically all the ones that were involved in some way in the qualifiers, not necessarily playing but in the squads that were picked," said Sky's chief football reporter Nick Collins.

"They are looking to have a pretty detailed analysis and debrief of the two November internationals [against Spain and France].

"They will also be starting the preparations for the games [in March] against Germany in Berlin and Holland at Wembley a few days later, and then the sights will be trained on the European Championships themselves. This is just a sit-down meet-up, so Premier League managers can breathe a sigh of relief. No-one is going to come back injured from this."

The FA confirmed that players who are unable or unwilling to attend the meeting will still be eligible for Euro selection.
