Jackie McNamara: 'Aidan Connolly did not dive against Celtic'

Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara argues that Aidan Connolly did not dive in the team's 1-1 draw against Celtic in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Dundee United coach Jackie McNamara has insisted that Aidan Connolly did not dive to earn a penalty against Celtic in the Scottish Cup.

Connolly went down in the box to allow Nadir Ciftci to rifle home from the spot, before Leigh Griffiths restored parity for Celtic in the 1-1 quarter-final draw.

"I don't think he dived. I think he caught him by his thigh," said McNamara, according to the Daily Mail

"Outside the box it is a free kick, yes, inside the box it might be soft but it is a penalty."

United currently hold fourth spot in the Scottish Premiership.
