Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway admits that he is surprised by the rivalry between his side and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has insisted that he will send his side out to give their supporters a performance that 'they can be proud of' against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Eagles meet Brighton on Saturday in a hotly-anticipated clash for both clubs' supporters, but Holloway has admitted that he was surprised to hear about the rivalry when he arrived at the club.

Holloway said: "It's not one the rest of football knows about. Even the geography doesn't really make sense.

"It's a bit weird but whatever fans think, you have to appreciate that and give a performance the fans are proud of. I've got no doubts we can do that."

The former Blackpool boss has picked up 13 points from a possible 18 since he arrived at Selhurst Park at the start of November.
