Eugenio Corini bemoans Chievo luck

Chievo's coach Eugenio Corini believes that the timing of Fiorentina's goals was unlucky for his side in their Coppa Italia defeat.

Chievo coach Eugenio Corini has admitted that his side did not get any luck in their 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina on Wednesday night that knocked them out of the Coppa Italia.

Corini was frustrated at the timing of the two goals, with the first going in while a player was receiving treatment and the second just before the half-time whistle.

"The boys played well, we were unlucky at times because we conceded the first goal when we were down to 10 men and then saw that get doubled just 30 seconds before half time," Corini told Tuttosport.

"My team tried their best. With even numbers the objective was to close out the spaces and then look to get into the game, but unfortunately we did not succeed.

"Now we have to concentrate on the league. We have a great desire to avoid relegation, we are re-motivated, but there remains a lot of work to do."

Chievo are currently 16th in Serie A.
