Didier Drogba confirms Chelsea stay

Didier Drogba says that he will be staying at Chelsea beyond the expiration of his existing deal in the summer.

Didier Drogba has confirmed that he will still be a Chelsea player next season.

The legendary striker, 36, signed a one-year deal with the Blues in the summer following a hugely-successful first spell in West London, which ended in 2012.

"My project for next year will be on a pitch with Chelsea," he told Telefoot.

With 17-goal striker Diego Costa suspended, Drogba was expected to lead the line in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

However, Loic Remy, who opened the scoring, was preferred by manager Jose Mourinho, and yet the veteran hitman has insisted that he is not overly upset by the omission.

"He played a great game against City. That shows that he is resourceful," he added. "We've showed that we can present a strong offensive force despite the absentees.

"It's obvious that I would like to play, but I'm not miserable."

Drogba has netted six times in 27 appearances in all competitions this season.
