David Luiz Chelsea talks ongoing after rejecting lucrative offer from Qatar

Chelsea defender David Luiz reportedly turns down lucrative offers from Qatar and Brazil as contract talks with the club continue.

David Luiz's contract talks with Chelsea remain ongoing after the centre-back turned down a lucrative offer from an unnamed Qatari club.

The 32-year-old's current deal at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of this season, but the two parties have so far been unable to come to terms on a new contract.

Chelsea have a club policy dictating that they will only offer players over the age of 30 a one-year extension, but Luiz wants a two-year deal and is holding out despite ultimately preferring to stay in West London.

The Brazilian is able to discuss terms with foreign teams, and the Evening Standard reports that a club from Qatar has offered a three-year contract worth £220,000 a week - a significant increase on his current £130,000-a-week deal.

Luiz is also understood to have been approached by Brazilian outfit Palmeiras with a multi-year offer worth more than £8.5m, but he has turned both down due to his desire to stay in Europe.

THe player has made almost 250 appearances for Chelsea over two spells, helping the club to five major honours including the 2012 Champions League.
