Chelsea reportedly have no interest in selling centre-back Levi Colwill this January, despite the 20-year-old catching the eye of Liverpool.

Chelsea are reportedly not prepared to sell Levi Colwill this month despite intense interest from Liverpool for the defender.

The 20-year-old has been a regular fixture in the Blues side this term, playing in 20 Premier League matches, scoring once and providing one assist.

Due to the injuries suffered by Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella, Colwill has been operating in a left-back role for Mauricio Pochettino this season.

The natural centre-back made his England debut in October, playing 90 minutes for Gareth Southgate in a friendly against Australia at Wembley.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool will not be able to secure the services of Colwill during this month's transfer window.

The report claims that Chelsea have no intention to sell the youngster in January, with the West Londoners looking to earn European football in the second part of the season.

Chelsea are said to be of a similar mindset for Conor Gallagher, who has played a key role for Chelsea in 2023-24 and has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite this, Jurgen Klopp's Reds remain 'extremely keen' on Colwill, who can operate anywhere across the backline in the Premier League and on international level.

It is understood that the Merseysiders would employ the 20-year-old at centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk, who has been the Reds' first-choice central defender over recent seasons.

Liverpool are allegedly in the market for a new centre-back, with the future of long-serving defender Joel Matip in doubt in the coming years.

Chelsea are in no rush to sell Colwill despite troubles with profit and sustainability in recent times, with the former Huddersfield Town man contracted at Stamford Bridge until 2029.

Pochettino may be even more keen to hold onto Colwill considering that Thiago Silva's future in the capital appears unclear, with the 39-year-old approaching the end of his current terms.

Looking to overturn a one-goal deficit from the first leg, Colwill and his Chelsea teammates host second-tier outfit Middlesbrough in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.
