Frank Sinclair: 'Reece James a better defender than Trent Alexander-Arnold'

Former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair says that academy graduate Reece James is a better defender than Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Frank Sinclair has claimed that Chelsea's Reece James is a better defender than Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold.

While Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of the best full-backs in world football, James has enhanced his growing reputation during his first season in the Chelsea senior ranks.

Despite their contrasting experience at the top level, former Blues player Sinclair feels that James is better defensively than the England international.

Speaking to GentingBet, Sinclair said: "It's going to be a big ask for James to rival Trent Alexander-Arnold given the way that he is performing for Liverpool, but I do see faults in Trent's game.

"Defensively, Reece James is a better defender than Alexander-Arnold at the moment, but it is hard to find a full-back that produces as many assists in Europe than Trent does for Liverpool."

James has just one goal and two assists from 22 outings in the Premier League and Champions League this season, while Alexander-Arnold has two strikes and 13 assists from 36 appearances in the same competitions.
