Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: 'No problem with John Terry'

Jose Mourinho stresses that there is no tension between him and Chelsea captain John Terry.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that there is no problem between him and captain John Terry amid speculation of tension between the duo.

Mourinho dropped him to the bench for Wednesday's 4-0 Champions League win over Maccabi Tel Aviv, with Steven Gerrard suggesting that all is not well between the pair.

Terry, who played every minute in helping the Blues to Premier League glory last term, was also substituted at half time in the 3-0 defeat by Manchester City in August.

"I don't think John deserves somebody to say he has a problem with me," Mourinho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I'm not even speaking about myself, I don't care about myself.

"But I think a top professional like he is and the way he always behaves in this club with me, I don't think he deserves any kind of doubt about what he is as a professional and as a captain in this club."

It was reported on Thursday that Terry's form was linked to the uncertainty surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge, with his contract up next summer.

Mourinho's side, who have endured their worst start to a league season for 29 years, host Arsenal in West London on Saturday.
