Chelsea's David Luiz faces a number of weeks out of action with a calf injury, according to a report.

David Luiz has reportedly been told that he faces a number of weeks on the sidelines due to a calf injury.

The Brazilian has been in impressive form for Chelsea since moving into the centre of midfield, but fitness problems have halted his recent progress.

Luiz could only make a substitute appearance in the Capital One Cup disappointment against Swansea City but the brief cameo has aggravated his injury, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old's absence could pave the way for John Terry's return to the starting lineup following the centre-back's own injury problems.

Terry is yet to start a game under interim manager Rafael Benitez.
