Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard refuses to talk about Luis Suarez's alleged bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has refused to dwell on Luis Suarez's alleged bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The incident is believed to have happened midway through the second half of Sunday's 2-2 draw between the sides at Anfield in the Premier League.

However, Suarez was not punished and went on to score deep into stoppage time to earn Liverpool a point.

"I'm not aware of the incident," Gerrard told Sky Sports News. "If there is clear footage, then I'll make a judgement and comment when I've seen it, and I haven't seen it.

"I'd rather talk about his performance in the second half and his performances from day one this season. He's been by far the best player in the league.

"He's just behind [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi as the best players in the world. I'll talk all day about Suarez as a genius and a player."

The Football Association has confirmed that it will be investigating footage of the incident as early as Monday.
