Chelsea reportedly identify Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim as a potential successor for new Blues head coach Graham Potter.

Chelsea have reportedly identified Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim as a successor for Graham Potter in the future.

The Blues announced the appointment of Potter on Thursday after Thomas Tuchel was relieved of his duties as Chelsea manager.

Following a three-year spell with Brighton & Hove Albion, the 47-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Although Potter is yet to take charge of his first game as Chelsea boss, according to the Daily Star, the Blues have already lined up his successor.

The report indicates that Chelsea have identified Amorim as a potential replacement in case Potter's time with the club is not a success.

Since becoming Sporting manager in 2020, Amorim has won the Primeira Liga title, the Taca da Liga on two occasions and a Portuguese Super Cup.

While Amorim is rumoured to be a Chelsea manager in waiting, the current Blues boss is scheduled to take charge of his first game on Wednesday when his new side play host to Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.
