Chelsea manager Antonio Conte insists that he has no regrets with the way he set his side out to face an "unstoppable" Manchester City side at the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted that he has no regrets following his side's 1-0 defeat at the hands of an "unstoppable" Manchester City side at the Etihad Stadium this evening.

Conte's tactics were heavily criticised as the champions failed to have a single shot on target, surrendered 71% of the possession and allowed City to complete a Premier League-record 902 passes throughout the game.

Chelsea have now lost four consecutive away games for the first time since 2003 - following defeats at Arsenal, Watford and Manchester United - but Conte refused to class today's loss in the same bracket as the ones which preceded it.

"We must have a big regret for the defeat against Bournemouth, against Watford, against United, but I don't think today because today we played against a team that is showing to be a strong team," he told reporters in his post-match press conference.

"I think that they showed the difference between them and us in this moment - 25 points is a big gap. I think that we can have regret for the other games, but not for this because I think the effort of the players was an important effort.

"When you play against Manchester City, against this type of team, they are showing fantastic quality, but at the same time fantastic mentality. When you match quality and mentality I think that you become unstoppable."

Chelsea are back in action on Saturday when they host Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge - their first home league game in almost a month.
