Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is facing two weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury sustained on international duty, according to a report.

Chelsea reportedly face being without new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy for up to two weeks after he sustained an injury on international duty.

The 28-year-old only arrived at Stamford Bridge in a £22m transfer two weeks ago, helping to resolve Frank Lampard's headache of finding a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Mendy has already made a couple of appearances for the Blues, keeping a clean sheet on his Premier League debut in last weekend's 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

However, the former Rennes stopper damaged his thigh while away with Senegal this week and has since returned to London to undergo treatment.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea expect to be without Mendy for a maximum of a fortnight, although that will only likely rule him out of one game - next week's league visit of Southampton.

The report indicates that Lampard hopes to have his new first-choice keeper back available for his side's Champions League Group E opener against Sevilla on October 20.
