Fabio Ferreira brace guides Central Coast Mariners to victory over Perth Glory

The Central Coast Mariners secure a 3-2 victory over Perth Glory in their A-League clash thanks to a brace from Fabio Ferreira and a strike from Roy O'Donovan.

A brace from Fabio Ferreira has guided Central Coast Mariners to a 3-2 victory over Perth Glory in their A-League clash.

The home side took the lead in the ninth minute when Ferreira raided into the box to fire at goal. Ante Covic made the save for the Glory, but Roy O'Donovan pounced on the rebound to slot the ball into the net.

Perth equalised when Joshua Risdon raided down the flank and lifted a pinpoint cross into the box for the head of Richard Garcia, who sent his effort beyond the reach of Liam Reddy.

The Mariners should have retaken the lead as Mitchell Austin carved out an opening for Nick Fitzgerald, but he sent his close-range effort inches past the post.

In the second half, Central Coast were handed the opportunity to regain their lead when Guyon Fernandez tugged the shirt of Ferreira inside the box and a spot kick was awarded. Ferreira took the penalty and sent his strike straight down the centre of the net.

The home side were awarded another penalty as Storm Roux was brought down in the box by Antony Golec, and Ferreira made no mistake converting the spot kick to put the Mariners in control.

Perth pushed to get back into the game and Gyorgy Sandor did find the net in the 93rd minute, but it was too little too late for the visitors as Central Coast held out for the win.
