Tuesday's League One predictions including Bolton Wanderers vs. Oxford United

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's League One fixtures, including Bolton Wanderers vs. Oxford United.

Carlisle vs. Barnsley (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Promotion-chasing Barnsley will attempt to bounce back from a heavy defeat to Lincoln City when they travel to Brunton Park for Tuesday's League One meeting with Carlisle United.

While the Tykes currently reside in fifth position, Carlisle are languishing at the foot of the table with just 16 points separating them from safety.

We say: Carlisle United 0-2 Barnsley

Although Barnley experienced a disappointing result at the weekend, we think the promotion hopefuls will issue an immediate response and return to winning ways against a struggling Carlisle side.

Derby vs. Reading (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Derby County will attempt to claim a third consecutive victory when they welcome Reading to Pride Park for Tuesday's League One contest.

The Royals, meanwhile, will be looking to return to winning ways after they fell to a narrow defeat in Saturday's home meeting with Wycombe Wanderers.

We say: Derby County 2-0 Reading

Derby would have certainly taken confidence from their last two successful outings, and we think they will continue to build momentum by claiming all three points in Tuesday's midweek fixture against an inconsistent Reading team.

Fleetwood vs. Bristol Rovers (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Fleetwood Town's battle to escape the League One relegation zone will continue on Tuesday evening, when they welcome Bristol Rovers to Highbury Stadium.

The home side are currently 22nd in the League One table, seven points from the safety of 20th position, while Bristol Rovers occupy 12th spot, 12 points off the playoff positions entering the business end of the campaign.

We say: Fleetwood Town 1-1 Bristol Rovers

As mentioned, five of the last eight League One meetings between these two teams have been drawn, while Fleetwood have shared the points in three of their last four matches, and we are predicting another stalemate in Lancashire on Tuesday evening.

Leyton Orient vs. Port Vale (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Port Vale will attempt to end their long wait for a victory when they travel to Brisbane Road for Tuesday's meeting with Leyton Orient.

The Valiants are languishing in 23rd position in the League One table, while the O's will begin the midweek contest in 10th position.

We say: Leyton Orient 2-1 Port Vale

Although Leyton Orient have lost their last two matches, we think they should have enough to claim all three points on Tuesday, with Port Vale bereft of confidence following a 12-game winless run.

Lincoln vs. Cambridge (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Lincoln City will be bidding to continue their excellent form in League One when they welcome Cambridge United to Sincil Bank Stadium on Tuesday night.

The home side, who are unbeaten since New Year's Day, are currently ninth in the table, six points outside the playoff positions, while Cambridge occupy 19th spot, five points clear of the relegation zone.

We say: Lincoln City 2-0 Cambridge United

Lincoln are charging towards the playoffs, with the Imps in excellent form, and we are expecting them to pick up another three points on Tuesday evening against a Cambridge side that have lost 10 of their 17 away league matches during the 2023-24 campaign.

Northampton vs. Blackpool (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Blackpool will be bidding to return to winning ways in League One when they travel to Sixfields Stadium on Tuesday evening to tackle Northampton Town.

The visitors are currently eighth in the table, four points outside the playoff positions, while Northampton sit 11th, seven points behind their opponents in this contest.

We say: Northampton Town 1-1 Blackpool

Blackpool need to win to stay in touch with the playoffs, but they have only managed to triumph in five of their 18 away league fixtures this term, while Northampton have lost just five times at home. We are expecting a tight match on Tuesday evening and are finding it difficult to separate them.

Portsmouth vs. Burton Albion (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Portsmouth will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 11 matches when they welcome Burton Albion to Fratton Park for Tuesday's League One encounter.

The promotion-chasing hosts are sitting top of the table, while Burton are hovering just above the drop zone in 20th place.

We say: Portsmouth 3-1 Burton Albion

Burton have proven to be a tough team to beat in recent away games, but we think their four-game unbeaten away run will ultimately come to an end against a Portsmouth side that has recorded four consecutive home victories.

Shrewsbury vs. Exeter (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Two sides neck-and-neck in the League One table seek to ease any relegation fears on Tuesday evening, as 16th-placed Exeter City travel to 17th-placed Shrewsbury Town.

The Grecians were left to rue what could have been in a 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, while their hosts ran out 2-1 victors on Port Vale's turf.

We say: Shrewsbury Town 1-1 Exeter City

For all of Shrewsbury's attacking shortcomings on home soil, Exeter arrive at Montgomery Waters Meadow with just one clean sheet from their last 14 away games and have often struggled to shut out their hosts on Salop soil.

Jellied legs from the weekend could also hamper the flow of both sides, and in a contest as tight as the table would suggest, we can only envisage a low-scoring draw.

Wycombe vs. Wigan (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Both Wycombe Wanderers and Wigan Athletic will be bidding to make it back-to-back victories in the third tier of English football when they lock horns for an intriguing contest on Tuesday night.

The home side, who are 15th in the table, will enter the contest off the back of a 2-1 victory over Reading, while 13th-placed Wigan were 1-0 winners over Leyton Orient last time out.

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 1-2 Wigan Athletic

Wycombe have won two of their last three in League One, but they were beaten 4-2 by Barnsley in their last home match, and Wigan certainly have the quality to triumph on Tuesday evening. We are expecting a close match but believe that the visitors will navigate their way to all three points.

Bolton vs. Oxford Utd (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

Aiming to get their top-two ambitions back on track following successive draws, Bolton Wanderers will welcome Oxford United to the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Tuesday night in League One.

Wanderers only managed a point at the home of Exeter City on Saturday afternoon, whilst the U's were able to narrowly overcome Cheltenham Town.

We say: Bolton Wanderers 3-1 Oxford United

Bolton are back at their home fortress on Tuesday night and will be confident of breaking into the top two with all three points against Oxford.

The U's edged past a struggling Cheltenham side on the weekend, but we feel that Buckingham's men will not be able to repeat the trick in this one.
